American depository receipts of Asian stocks were trading 0.03% lower at 142.60 on the Bank of New York Mellon Asia ADR Index on Friday.
In North Asia, the gainers were led by online retailer LightInTheBox (LITB) and semiconductor company Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMI), which rose 3.9% and 3.6% respectively. They were followed by investment group Jupai Holdings (JP), higher 3.4%, and internet service provider Internet Initiative Japan (IIJI), up 2.1%.
The decliners in North Asia were led by New Oriental Education & Technology (EDU), a provider of private educational services in China, and coal miner Yanzhou Coal Mining (YZC), which shed 4.2% and 2.7%, respectively. They were followed by Kingtone Wirelessinfo Solution (KONE), a provider of mobile enterprise solutions, off 2.6%, and commercial wheel manufacturer China Zenix Auto International (ZX), which was down 2.2%.
